Super Distance Summit

Former York Community High School (Elmhurst, IL) assistant cross country coach Charlie Kern came to the Super Distance Summit as an accomplished runner and masters coach. Now in his 40s, he is still quick enough to pace the mile at the Midwest Distance Gala every June. Charlie was Joe Newton's right hand man for over a decade and eventually took over as track coach when Mr Newton retired from coaching in the spring in the early 2000s.

Charlie's first Key to Success is that a coach must trust their ability to do the best that they can do.

  1. Intro: Seven Keys to Motivation

  3. Trusting Each Other
